The Leeds City Region Development Programme, has been agreed by a strategic alliance of 11 authorities within Yorkshire, who have developed a shared vision of enhancing economic growth across the city region and thereby enhancing the regions contribution to the national economy.
The Leeds city region has a population of 2.8 million and a 45 billion economy supporting around 70,000 businesses and over 1.4 million jobs. The development programme identifies measures which could see the city regions economy grow to 67 billion and facilitate the creation of around 150,000 jobs over the next ten years.
Launched in Halifax today to an audience of leaders from across local government, the business community and other partner organisations, the document has been submitted to the Government as part of a drive to regenerate the Northern regions.
